Lake Providence Fire Chief Keith Larry assured the town’s board of aldermen members last Thursday that the town’s fire rating would be going from a 10 to six within the next few months. Larry explained that he was unaware that he could count his own training hours toward certification. “The lady said that it was just short about four hours,” Larry said. “We are getting together the necessary paperwork to turn in and fix the problem.” He added that he had been working toward a number of improvements with the fire department, acknowledging that the more training the department receives, the more funds that would be available to the fire department. “The more stuff I do, the more options we have,” Larry said.
