Last week, students at Southside Elementary School marked the birthday of author Dr. Seuss with a full slate of fun activities and events. Some of the craziness in the name of literacy included eating green eggs and ham for lunch, wearing fun socks, wearing uniforms backwards, dressing in favorite hats, and dressing like favorite charactesr from Dr. Seuss’s books.

The recent Mardi Gras Pancake Supper was well attended and deemed a success by partner organizers from Grace Episcopal and First Methodist churches. After having been cancelled each year over the past several years due to the pandemic, as well as a reduction in volunteers at Grace, the supper this year had fresh input and energy due to the participation of First Methodist helpers.
